Snead Grads Earn Patient Choice Award

Gadsden, Ala. – Nurses Wendy Denson and Telitha Poole will share the coveted 2016 Patient Choice Award, given to honor the best in the profession at Gadsden Regional.
Denson and Poole received the honor on May 6, 2016, during a luncheon for nominees at GRMC.
May 6 was also National Nurses Day, when nurses across the country are recognized for their tireless commitment to the profession.
Denson and Poole were selected from a field of almost four dozen fellow nurses, all nominated by former patients (or patient family members) who had been admitted for care at GRMC in the past year.
“I am so honored to work with such a group of caring professionals nurses like this year’s nominees,” said Donna Nicholson, the hospital’s Chief Nursing officer. “Looking at the compliments made by patients and their family members, anyone can see that these nurses provide top-notch, quality care at Gadsden Regional.”
Nominations for Women’s & Children’s nurse Denson called her “amazing,” “always there when needed” and one who helped ease her patients’ concerns.
Judy Swafford, director of Women’s & Children’s at GRMC, called Denson “a team player with a great personality.”
“The patients love her,” Swafford said.
Denson, a graduate of Snead State, has been with GRMC since 2009. She was named GRMC Employee of the Month in March 2013
Nominations for Poole called the orthopedic nurse “wonderful,” she was “helpful in every way” and “always cheerful.”
Poole is the fourth nurse from the hospital’s orthopedic floor to be named a Patient Choice Award winner.
“Telitha is a great nurse who always goes the extra mile,” said Maria Adderhold, orthopedics nursing director. “It is a privilege to work with Telitha and the rest of the nurses on orthopedics, who consistently go above and beyond for our patients.”
Poole began her tenure with GRMC in July 2012 after receiving her nursing degree from Snead State. She was also named the hospital’s Employee of the Month for August 2014.
For being named Patient Choice Award winner, Denson and Poole each received a plaque and a check for $500.
