Snead State Adds Ten to Team


The Snead State Community College Softball program and head coach Tracy Grindrod announced the addition of 10 student-athletes to join their team for the 2017-2018 academic year.

Name: Harley Bobo
Position: Pitcher/First Baseman
High School: Pisgah
Bobo comes from a great softball tradition of winning at Pisgah and will bring that quality to Snead State. She will contribute to the team with her hitting as well.

Name: Laura Lin Chaffin
Position: Catcher
High School: James Clements
Chaffin is a catcher from James Clements high school in Madison, AL and also plays with the Kraze during the summer. She has a great arm and works well with her pitchers and fits well with her work ethic and ability to get on base.

Name: Kate Coleman
Position: Pitcher/Third and First Baseman
High School: American Christian Academy
Coleman plays for American Christian Academy as well as the travel team the Silver Bullets. Coleman is a competitor that works hard to be the best she can be. She always has a smile and cannot wait to be on the softball field each day.

Name: Alida Heuszel
Position: Outfield
High School: Rogers High School
Heuszel brings speed and a strong arm to the outfield with a strong bat that runs the bases well. She also plays travel ball with the Kraze.
Name: Halley Jolly
Position: Catcher/Shortstop
High School: Lee in Huntsville
Jolly plays travel ball with the Green Flash and she is the first to get dirty on the field. She is a relentless competitor that is willing to do whatever it takes to help her team to win.

Name: Josie McDonald
Position: Pitcher
High School: Good Hope
McDonald plays with Good Hope Elite travel team and has the stuff to win. She will be an asset for us in the circle. She hits for power and will find her way into the lineup.

Name: Tori Patterson
Position: Pitcher/Third Baseman
High School: Athens
Patterson plays travel ball with the Green Flash. She is versatile and can play multiple positions. Patterson hits very well and will bring leadership to the team.

Name: Mary Patton
Position: Middle Infield/Outfield
High School: Collinsville
Patton plays travel ball with the Red Hornets. She is a utility player who can play middle infield as well as outfield. She brings speed and an arm that will provide depth by being able to play many positions.

Name: Kayleigh Powell
Position: Catcher/ Second Baseman
High School: Albertville
Powell can play most anywhere but prefers to catch and play second base. She is a lefty with speed and a strong arm that finds a way to get on base consistently. She plays for the Green Flash during the summer.

Name: Tiffani Schwaiger
Position: First Baseman
High School: Cullman
Schwaiger is a 6’1’’ first baseman with a big bat that can hit the ball to all fields. She has great range and is a big target for the infield. She plays travel ball with Good Hope Elite.
