Snead State Names 2016 Homecoming King and Queen

Caleb Tarvin and Brooke Hubbard, both of Boaz, were named the 2016 Snead State Homecoming King and Queen Thursday night.

Caleb Tarvin is the son of Steve and Brandy Tarvin and is a 2014 graduate of Boaz High School. He is majoring in speech pathology and is a recipient of the Academic Achievement and Alumni Association scholarships at Snead State.

He is a member of Phi Beta Lambda, History Club, Baptist Campus Ministries and Prayer Team. He is also president of Phi Theta Kappa, treasurer of Student Government Association, a former officer relations coordinator and is an Ambassador.

He is involved with the Community Choir, co-leads a small group, a member of the Guntersville Lions Club and is a worship leader at Son-Rise Bible Church. He plans to attend the University of Alabama and pursue a degree in speech-language pathology.  

Brooke Hubbard is the daughter of Tim and Kim Hubbard. She is a 2014 graduate of Sardis High School and is majoring in general education.  

She is a Presidential Scholar, president of the Student Government Association, vice-president of Scholarship of Phi Theta Kappa, historian of Sigma Kappa Delta and is an Ambassador. She is a member of Shady Grove Missionary Baptist Church. Along with being involved with their youth and adult choir, she is also a first year board director for the Guntersville Lions Club. She plans to attend the University of Alabama to obtain a degree in public relations.

Also representing the sophomores were Hannah Mathis of Rome, GA., Mary Beth Morgan of Boaz, Baylee Naylor of Sardis City, Macy West of Haleyville, Noah Campbell of Albertville, Brock Colvin of Albertville, Hunter Gilmore of Jasper and Jarrod Lowery of Boaz.

Hannah Mathis is the daughter of Kent and Jana Mathis and is a 2014 graduate of Pepperell High School. She is majoring in exercise science and wellness. She is a member of the Snead State tennis team, vice-president of Baptist Campus Ministries and is a member of Phi Theta Kappa and Sigma Kappa Delta. She is involved with Compassion City Church in Albertville and is a member of Pleasant Valley Baptist Church in Rome, Ga. She hasn’t decided where she will transfer after Snead State but plans to pursue a degree in physical education.  

Mary Beth Morgan is the daughter of Shannon and Lisa Morgan. She is a 2014 graduate of Boaz High School and is majoring in elementary education. She is a recipient of a Service Scholarship. She is an Ambassador and is a member of Phi Theta Kappa and Baptist Campus Ministries. She is the Bible Club leader at Boaz Intermediate School, a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church and is a small group mentor for the youth at First Baptist of Boaz. She plans to attend Auburn University to major in elementary education.

Baylee Naylor is the daughter of Brent and Pam Naylor. She is a 2014 graduate of Sardis High School. She is majoring in pre-nursing and is a recipient of a Service Scholarship at Snead State. She is also a Snead State cheerleader, an Ambassador, a representative for Student Government Association and is a member of Phi Theta Kappa and Sigma Kappa Delta. She teaches gymnastics, works at United Doctors Family Medical Center and is a member of Cornerstone Baptist Church. She plans to transfer to Jacksonville State University and pursue a degree in Nursing.

Macy West is the daughter of Tommy and Stephanie West. She is a 2014 graduate of Haleyville High School and is majoring in pre-nursing. She is a member of the softball team, Phi Theta Kappa, Sigma Kappa Delta, FCA, History Club and is an Ambassador. She is a member of Beech Grove Baptist. She plans to attend the University of Alabama to major in biology and eventually attend medical school.  

Noah Campbell is the son of Craig and Tammy Campbell. He is a 2014 graduate of Albertville High School and is majoring in business. He is a recipient of the Pat Courington Endowment. He is president of Ambassadors, vice-president of Student Government Association, vice-president of Sigma Kappa Delta and is a member of Phi Theta Kappa and Phi Beta Lambda. He is a first year board director for the Guntersville Lions Club. He plans to attend the University of Alabama to major in business management and minor in political science.

Brock Colvin is the son of Mike and Cheri Colvin. He is a 2014 graduate of Albertville High School and is majoring in finance. He is a Presidential Scholar and member of the baseball team, Phi Theta Kappa and is an Ambassador. He is a member of Southside Baptist Church. He plans to transfer to the University of Alabama to major in finance/economics and eventually pursue a degree in law.  

Hunter Gilmore is the son of Jeff and Denise Gilmore and is a 2014 graduate of Cordova High School. He is majoring in criminal justice. He is a member of the baseball team, Baptist Campus Ministries and is an Ambassador. He is involved with First Baptist Church of Boaz. He plans to attend Jacksonville State University and major in criminal justice.

Jarrod Lowery is the son of Pam and Marlin Lowery. He is a 2014 graduate of Boaz High School and is majoring in pre-nursing. He is a member of Phi Theta Kappa, Sigma Kappa Delta and is an Ambassador. He is a member of Compassion City Church. He plans to transfer to Jacksonville State University to major in nursing.  

Representing the freshmen were Jessica Clontz of Crossville, Macy Fowler of Boaz, Abby Hawkins of Guntersville, Taylor McCarver of Scottsboro, Wesley Burns of Boaz, Douglas Howard of Altoona, C.J. Shell of Boaz and Cameron Whitt of Boaz.

Jessica Clontz is the daughter of Kelly and Cena Clontz. She is a 2015 graduate of Boaz High School and is attending Snead State on a Presidential Scholarship. She is majoring in education and is involved with the Ambassadors, BCM and Presidential Scholars. She is also a member of her youth choir and a youth volleyball coach. She plans to transfer to Auburn University in 2017 to obtain an education degree.

Macy Fowler is the daughter of Brett Fowler and Shellie Fowler. She graduated from Boaz High School in 2015 and is attending Snead State on a general and cheerleading scholarship. She is majoring in nursing and is also a cheerleader. She is a hospice volunteer and employee at Marshall Medical Center South. She plans to transfer to the University of Alabama in the fall of 2017 to obtain a nursing degree

Abby Hawkins is the daughter of Carey and Denise Hawkins. She is a 2015 graduate of Guntersville High School and is attending Snead State on an Academic Scholarship. She is majoring in communications. She is a SGA freshmen representative, ambassador and member of the Alumni Association. She works with the Guntersville Elementary School Extended Day Program and takes part in Christmas Coalition. She plans to transfer to the University of Alabama in 2017 to obtain a degree in communications.

Taylor Dawn McCarver is from Scottsboro and is a 2015 graduate of Skyline High School. She is the daughter of Ronnie and Stacey McCarver and is attending Snead State on a cheerleading scholarship. She is majoring in elementary education. She plans to transfer to Auburn University to obtain an Education degree.

Wesley Burns from Boaz is the son of Nathan and Laurel Burns. He is a 2015 graduate of Boaz High School and is a member of the Snead State baseball team. He is attending Snead State on a Presidential Scholarship and is majoring in mechanical engineering. He is an Ambassador, Presidential Scholar and a member of the BCM. He is involved with the Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Youth Band and has gone on multiple youth trips with his church. He plans to transfer to Auburn University in the fall of 2017 to obtain a degree in mechanical engineering.

Douglas Howard of Altoona is the son of Mickey and Dale Howard. He is a 2015 graduate of Boaz High School. He is attending Snead State on an Academic Scholarship and is majoring in civil engineering. He is a cheerleader and member of the BCM. He is also a member of First Baptist Church of Boaz. He plans to transfer to Auburn University in the fall of 2017 to obtain a degree in environmental engineering.

C.J. Shell is the son of Marissa Shell and Mike Shell. He is a 2015 graduate of Boaz High School. He is attending Snead State on an Academic Scholarship and is an Ambassador and member of the cheerleading squad and BCM. He is a member of St. Williams Church. He plans to transfer to the University of Alabama in Birmingham in the fall of 2017 to obtain a nursing degree. He wants to one day become a nurse anesthetist.

Cameron Whitt is the son of Tim and Pam Whitt. He is a 2015 graduate of Boaz high School. He is attending Snead State on a Presidential Scholarship and is majoring in Biology. She is a Presidential Scholar and a Snead State cheerleader. He is a youth leader at First Baptist Church of Boaz where he participates in the student choir and ensemble. He is also an extended day worker at Boaz Elementary School. He plans to transfer to the University of Alabama in 2016 to obtain a degree in education to teach Biology.
