Snead State Piano Student Scores Outstanding at State Festival


A piano student with Snead State Community College qualified to audition at the state level for the Alabama Music Teachers’ Association.

Jewellia Ard of Albertville made an “Outstanding” rating at the AMTA’s Piano Festival hosted by Snead State each year in April. The rating qualified her to travel to the University of Montevallo to audition at the state level.

At the state level, Jewellia scored “Outstanding” and was chosen “Honorable Mention” for the state auditions. She auditioned as a high school sophomore in Division III, comprised of sophomores, juniors and seniors.

Her musical program included “Allegro in F Minor” by C.P.E. Bach, “Scherzo/Fantasia in E Minor” by Feliz Medelssohn and “Prelude” by the contemporary composer Paul Creston.

Jewellia studies piano with Snead State Instructor Dr. Melinda Brooks. She will be a junior at Albertville High School this fall. She is the daughter of Gary and Sheila Ard of Albertville.
