Snead State Public Relations Team Earns Recognition


Snead State Community College Public Relations/Marketing team won an Award of Achievement and an Award of Merit during the annual Alabama Community College System Public Relations Association (ACCSPRA) Pyramid Awards brunch on Thursday, Sept. 8.

The Public Relations Team of Director of Marketing and Public Relations Shelley Smith and Graphic Design/Web Specialist and Sports Information Coordinator Miranda Collier accepted these awards of second and third place, respectively. The Award of Achievement in the category of Athletics was given for the 2015-16 Basketball Media Guide, and the Award of Merit for the Public Relations/Marketing Campaign category was given for the Summer 2015 Enrollment Campaign.

“It is always a humbling experience to be recognized by our peers in this way. All of the public relations professionals within the Alabama Community College System are among the best at what they do, and it’s an honor to be a part of such a talented group of professionals,” said Director of Marketing and Public Relations Shelley Smith. “I also consider myself fortunate to have a hard-working and talented colleague in Miranda Collier. She represents the strong work ethic and commitment to excellence that Snead State is known for.” 

The Pyramid Awards were developed by ACCSPRA to recognize the efforts of college marketing and recruiting departments within the Alabama Community College System. Two-year institutions within the organization had the opportunity to enter their work in a variety of categories. The Pyramid Awards ceremony was held in conjunction with ACCSPRA’s Annual Conference Sept. 6-8. 

As part of the Annual Conference, ACCSPRA members also approved a slate of officers for the 2016-2017 year. Ms. Collier was voted by her peers to serve as secretary of the ACCSPRA Board. She will be serving with President Kristen Holmes of Wallace State Community College in Hanceville, President-Elect Barbara Thompson of Wallace Community College in Dothan, Treasurer Sara Godwin of Faulkner State Community College, Communications Chair Taylor Burton of Calhoun Community College, Members-At-Large Geri Albright of Lawson State Community College, Andrew Brasfield of Bevill State Community College, Trent Randolph of Northwest-Shoals Community College, Lloyd Wing of Faulkner State Community College, Sherika Attipoe of Calhoun Community College, and Immediate Past President Shondae Brown of Southern Union Community College.
