Softball Finishes Third in ACCC
The Snead State Community College softball team finished its season as the third-ranked team in the Alabama Community College Conference.
The Parsons went 4-2 at the ACCC Tournament in Alabaster.
The team went 2-0 on the first day of the tournament defeating Jefferson Davis Community College 10-2 and Wallace Dothan Community College 6-2.
On the second day of the tournament, Snead State picked up two wins and two losses. The Parsons defeated Southern Union 8-0 and Faulkner State 2-0. It’s only losses came to ACCC Champion Wallace State in a 4-3 thriller and to ACCC Runner-Up Shelton State 7-1.
The Lady Parsons finished the season with a 32-33 overall record and a 20-12 record in conference play.
Six players received post season awards.
Geraldine’s Marissa Hancock was named to the All-Region First Team and North Division First Team. She led the region with 20 homeruns.
Douglas native Audrey Glitzer also earned All-Region First Team and North Division First Team honors. She led the region with 40 stolen bases.
Sparkman’s Shannon Summers was the third Parson named to the All-Region and North Division First Teams. She led the region with runners caught stealing. Summers was also named to the All-Tournament Team.
Anna Leigh Mitchell of Austin and Courtney Blevins of Ider were named to the North Division Second Team.
Madison Cantrell of Albertville was named to the All-Tournament Team.
“I’m extremely proud of this team and the excellent coaching staff. They’ve had an outstanding year,” said Athletic Director Mark Richard.
