Mission Statement

Snead State Community College, one of the public two-year colleges of the Alabama Community College System, strives to provide accessible educational opportunities, to promote economic growth and development, and to enhance the quality of life for the College service area.

The mission of the College is further defi ned through the following College goals:

  1. To provide a comprehensive program of instruction that offers opportunities for life-long learning through pre-baccalaureate, technical, and continuing education programs.
  2. To provide accessible education through a variety of venues, including distance learning/electronicallydelivered instruction.
  3. To provide administrative, academic, and student support services designed to assist students in overcoming reading, writing, and mathematical defi ciencies and acquiring skills fundamental to further academic, personal, and career achievement.
  4. To provide students a broad range of services that enhance the effectiveness of educational offerings and include academic advising, counseling, career planning, job placement, fi nancial assistance, information technology resources and systems, library and learning resources, athletics, and extra-curricular activities.
  5. To maintain the pursuit of excellence as the guiding principle for staffi ng and programming.
  6. To promote professional growth and development by encouraging employee participation in programs of enrichment, leadership training, and advanced study as well as membership and participation in professional organizations.
  7. To develop and maintain cooperative relationships with other educational Colleges and agencies to facilitate smooth articulation to and from college programs.
  8. To develop and maintain cooperative relationships with public and social agencies and area businesses and industries by promoting close communications and providing services and programs through training and retraining as needed or requested.
  9. To engage in an ongoing, broad-based, systematic process of planning and evaluation that results in the improvement of educational programs and support activities.
  10. To provide adequate fi nancial resources, administrative processes, and physical facilities to support the mission of the College.
  11. To promote educational, cultural, and recreational enrichment of the community by offering the use of College facilities and resources to the community.
