Snead State invites alumni to pursue volunteer opportunities to give back to the next generation of students and to remain connected to the College. A variety of opportunities are available for you to give of your time, your knowledge and your skills. All you have to do is contact us!
Alumni Association Board of Directors:
The board consists of a president, vice president, secretary and treasurer. All positions are filled by volunteers who serve one year terms with the option to serve additional terms. The board meets periodically to discuss routine business of the Alumni Association, to supervise all fundraising activities and special events, and to serve as liaisons between the Alumni Association and the College.
Volunteers are welcome to plan special events hosted by the Alumni Association. Annual events include Alumni Homecoming, the Alumni Night Out Chili Supper, the Alumni Night at the Theatre, alumni mixers, alumni and students events, and employee appreciation luncheons. Volunteers help with sharing ideas, contacting sponsors, working with caterers or agreeing to provide refreshments, decorating, encouraging alumni to attend, and selecting entertainment.
We invite those who have a talent for landscaping to share that talent with the Alumni Association. Beautification projects can be as simple as planting flowers around the Alumni House to working with clean-up crews to prepare the campus for special events such as Commencement.
The Alumni Office is a busy place, and people with friendly attitudes and excellent people skills are welcome to volunteer once or twice a week to help monitor the office. Duties would include answering the phone, greeting guests and visitors, assisting with ticket sales of special events, processing membership forms, and preparing mailouts for the membership.
The Alumni Office contains countless photos, newspaper clippings, student publications, and yearbooks that chronicle the school’s history. But the priceless memorabilia needs to be cataloged and prepared for display at the Alumni Office and in the College’s Heritage Room.
Retired educators are welcome to work with the Academic Support Center to aid students who need tutoring in core course such as biology, English and math. Give of your time to help our students be successful!
