ATHLETIC HISTORY

The Snead State Parsons, with a long history of athletic competition, are highly respected competitors in intercollegiate athletics.

While the school was still a seminary, the Parsons won the Alabama High School State Basketball Tournament in 1926 and 1929. Since then, the Parsons have won many state and regional championships in basketball, and five teams have reached their national tournaments. The Parsons now compete in the Alabama Junior and Community College Conference and are members of the National Junior College Athletic Association. Teams are fielded in Baseball, Volleyball, Men’s & Women’s Basketball, Softball and Tennis.

The 1989-90 Men’s & Women’s Basketball teams both won State Championships and earned 12th and 16th place, respectively, in the National Championship Tournament. In 1992, the Women’s Basketball, Softball and Tennis teams all qualified to compete in the national tournament. For the past six years, the tennis team has also competed in the national tournament.

In 1997, the Softball team won the State Championship. In 2000, Snead State placed No. 1 in Women’s Doubles at the Tennis State Championship and competed in the national tournament.
