All federal financial aid requires that the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) be completed. Once an applicant completes the FAFSA, it should be mailed to the processor. A pre-addressed envelope is included with each application. Applications may be completed online at www.fafsa.ed.gov. In approximately four weeks, the applicant will receive a Student Aid Report (SAR). All applicants should have the application completed as soon as possible, after January 1, for consideration of all available aid.

Federal Pell Grant - The Federal Pell Grant is an entitlement from the federal government that does not have to be repaid. Since this grant is intended to be the foundation of a student’s financial aid package, a student is required to apply for a Federal Pell Grant if he or she applies for any other federal financial aid. Eligibility is based on family income. The amount of an award depends upon the student’s eligibility and the cost of attending college. |
Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant – These grants, commonly referred to as FSEOG, vary in amounts from $100 to $4000 each year and do not have to be repaid. Federal Pell Grant recipients with extremely low family contributions and who submit their FAFSA by April 15 will receive priority. |
Alabama State Grant Program – These grants are available to Alabama residents with extremely low family contributions. A separate application is not required to apply for the State Grant. Students should submit their FAFSA to the Student Services Office by the priority deadline of April 15 for consideration of this grant. |
