
Snead State Community College offers a variety of scholarships to students in recognition of their academic achievement, performance ability, and/or financial need. Only one Collegeal scholarship may be awarded per student.

These scholarships, which are made available from the Snead State Endowment Fund, are awarded to both freshmen and sophomore students. Awards are based on merit and/or need. High school students who plan to enroll at Snead as freshmen, as well as returning Snead students, should submit applications to the Financial Aid Officer, who serves as the Chairperson of the College Scholarship Committee. Requests for information should be addressed to the Chairperson of the College Scholarship Committee.
 ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIPS
The State of Alabama, through Snead State Community College, offers scholarships each year to students who have outstanding academic records. Entering freshmen in the top 10% of their graduating classes are eligible for Academic Scholarships.
Valedictorians
and salutatorians of State-accredited high schools receive first consideration. The scholarships cover in-state full tuition and fees for two years. However, eligibilty for second-year awards depend upon full-time enrollment status and a 3.0 cumulative grade point average. The application deadline is the first of March.
ART SCHOLARSHIPS.
The State of Alabama, through Snead State Community College, offers scholarships to students who have demonstrated artistic talent. These scholarships provide in-state full tuition and fees for one year. Portfolios of artwork must be submitted to the Fine Arts Department. The application deadline is the first of March.
LEADERSHIP SCHOLARSHIPS
The State of Alabama, through Snead State Community College, awards scholarships annually to students who have demonstrated leadership qualities. Incoming freshmen with outstanding leadership abilities as demonstrated by high school and community activities may apply for Leadership Scholarships. The two-year scholarships provide in-state full tuition and fees. A 2.0 cumulative grade point average is required for renewal for the second year. Recipients are required to perform 40 hours of service for the College during the fall and spring semesters. The application deadline is the first of March.
TECHNOLOGY SCHOLARSHIPS
The State of Alabama, through Snead State Community College, awards scholarships annually to students who plan to pursue degrees in the fields of technology. Students majoring in the technical fields of Electronic Engineering Technology, Computer Science Technology, Occupational Technology, Medical Transcription, Child Development, Management and Supervision, and Office Administration may apply for scholarships for in-state full tuition and fees for one or two years. The application deadline is the first of March.
PERFORMING ARTS SCHOLARSHIPS
The State of Alabama, through Snead State Community College, awards scholarships to students who can demonstrate talent and represent Snead in the performing arts. Awards are made in the following arts: Piano, Voice, Guitar, College Street Singers, and Jazz Band. All scholarships provide in-state full tuition and fees for one year. All music scholarships are awarded on the basis of outstanding musical talent and performance. Auditions are required and must be scheduled with the directors of musical groups. The application deadline is the first of March.

SCHOLARS BOWL SCHOLARSHIPS
The State of Alabama, through Snead State Community College, awards scholarships in Scholars Bowl. These scholarships, which provide in-state full tuition and fees for one year, are awarded on the basis of outstanding competitive academic talent and performance. The application deadline is the first of March.
ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIPS
The State of Alabama, through Snead State Community College, offers athletic scholarships in the following sports: Men’s Basketball, Women’s Basketball, Women’s Fast Pitch Softball, Women’s Tennis, Men’s Baseball, and Cheerleading. Manager scholarships are also available. All scholarships provide full tuition, fees, and book loan for two semesters. Applicants must contact the coach of each sport at 256.593.5120.
The maximum amount of assistance through athletic scholarships may not exceed the total of tuition and books. Under no condition shall a participating athlete receive a cash stipend. Inquiries should be directed to the Athletic Director at Snead State Community College.
GED SCHOLARSHIPS
The State of Alabama, through Snead State Community College, awards scholarships to individuals passing the General Education Development (GED) test. These scholarships cover in-state tuition for one class only. One scholarship, in the amount of in-state full tuition and fees, and partial scholarships for one year are also awarded. Students earning higher GED scores are awarded the scholarships.
SENIOR ADULT SCHOLARSHIPS
Any student meeting Collegeal admission requirements and who is 60 years of age or older is eligible for the Senior Adult Scholarship. The scholarship covers tuition only in college-credit courses. (College-credit course is defined as a course measured in both credit hours and scheduled weekly contact hours that is part of an organized and specified program leading to a formal award of the College, i.e., associate degree or certificate.) Scholarships are limited to students on a space available basis, taught on campus or in an approved off-campus site.
SUMMER HONORS SCHOLARSHIPS
This program provides scholarships for the summer semester for students who have successfully completed the 10th or 11th grade, who are attending high schools in the College’s service area, and who meet eligibility requirements (i.e., cumulative “B” average) for accelerated or dual enrollment high school students. A scholarship applicant must submit an application for admission and take the COMPASS test, unless exempt by earning a 20 on both the math and English sections of the ACT. Courses must be taken for college credit to receive scholarship awards. Due to the limited number of scholarships available, awards will be based on academic and leadership achievement. The scholarship covers tuition and fees up to six semester hours. Books, supplies, and tuition/fee charges above six semester hours are the responsibility of the student. Application deadline is the first of March.
Each year various community organizations and clubs award scholarships to students who are chosen as recipients by the membership of the organizations.
