Career Coach

The Career Coach is stationed primarily in local high schools with the mission to help high school students define their career aspirations and recognize postsecondary programs and services that can help students achieve their goals.  The basic purpose of the career coach is to empower students to make informed decisions about their career and educational plans and to prepare students for success in postsecondary education and training.  The Career Coach will focus on the 16 career pathways identified at the secondary level through the Alabama Career/Technical Course of Study.  The Career Coach focuses on all careers requiring various levels of education and will direct students to the colleges that offer the programs and resources to meet individual needs. 

The Career Coach will work with the middle/high schools, business/industry, College academic and technical departments, parents and students to reach their primary goal - to develop and implement a career-focused program that provides students with a viable plan to further their education or enter the workforce.

The Career Coach:

·        Provides information regarding Alabama's 16 Career Clusters.

·        Shares information on careers and career pathways.

·        Assists students in developing career plans and portfolios.

·        Connects students to early college entrance programs such as Dual Enrollment.

·        Develops a seamless transition for students from high school to postsecondary education, training and the workforce.
