Athletics

The Snead State Parsons, with a long history of athletic competition, are highly respected competitors in intercollegiate athletics. While the School was still a Seminary, the Parsons won the Alabama High School State Basketball tournaments in 1926 and 1929. Since then the Parsons have won many state and regional championships in basketball, and five teams reached the national tournament.

The Parson's now compete in the Alabama Junior and Community College Conference and are members of the National Junior College Athletic Association. Teams are fielded in men's baseball and basketball and women's basketball, softball, and tennis. The 1989-90 women's basketball team and men's basketball team both won the State Championship and earned 16th and 12th place, respectively, in the National Championship Tournament.

In 1992 women's basketball, softball, and tennis teams all qualified to compete in the national tournament. In 1997, the women's softball team won the State Championship. In 2000, Snead State won the No. 1 doubles women's tennis State Championship and competed in the national tournament.

Snead State now has a new baseball field, and the baseball team is making consistent progress.
The Snead State Cheerleaders are organized to promote school spirit and to represent Snead State Community College at athletic contests. Snead State Community College cheerleaders began competing in the UCA College Cheerleading National Championships in 1994. Snead State placed 5th in Division II in 1994, won the Junior College Division in 1995, placed 3rd in 1996, 2nd in 1997, 4th in 1998, 2nd in 1999, 3rd in 2000, and won the 2001 Junior College Division National Championship.
